I’m running a contour path operation and the machine becomes impossible to stop through the Web UI. If I refresh the page during operation, the CNC behaves erratically and dangerously.
My Setup:
Web UI: ESP3D-WEBUI@v1.24.0
Firmware: FluidNC v1.24.0
What happens:
I start a contour path operation through the Web UI
Try to stop using the stop button → no response, machine keeps running
If I refresh the browser page during operation:
Belts go loose (motors release tension)
Machine continues moving with loose belts
Sometimes the belt drums start rotating chaotically in random directions
No emergency stop triggers
Question:
Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Interesting! I can’t say that I’ve very tried pausing during the trace boundary operation. It looked to me like there was an error which popped up in the console as soon as you pressed the pause button, do you have the log by any chance?
This was done using the “trace outline” function.
Yesterday I tried to reproduce the error but couldn’t.
As I see it, there’s a problem with this function: once it’s started, it can’t be interrupted and restarted; it must run until it finishes.
I’d like to see more advanced features in this function—for example, the ability to move the router to any point along the perimeter and lower the router.
This is useful when you have to use pieces of different materials and need to know the exact cutting boundaries. Yes, right now you can position the router by right-clicking and selecting “Move,” but that’s not very precise, and it’s hard to hit the exact coordinates you need.
Although its not designed for this, you can use the Park function to go to any co-ordinate you want. Just select the X,Y position you want and click Park. The centre is (0,0) set negative x and y values to go left and down. You can get very precise positioning using this. Just remember all cutting is done relative to where your home position is set.
You can also set the home position manually with X,Y coordinates, which lets your position be extremely accurate
