Hi Everyone,

I’ve been lurking awhile on this forum, this is my 1st real post. I will hopefully have something to contribute once I get my kit delivered and constructed.

I was wondering if it is possible to do a vertical orientation maslow? as in portrait mode compared to the usual landscape?

How would this affect the kinematics of the sled and the accuracy of the cutting? would it magnify the ‘bottom corner affect’?

thanks for your thoughts

yes, a maslow in any relation is possible, play around with the spreadsheet at

the smaller the minimum force is, the worse the problems in the bottom corners
will be. If you set things up with a wide enough top beam to keep those forces
at least as large as stock, then you will not be worse.

Im really glad you asked this question, woodbutchersreveng, as I’m considering the same thing; portrait orientation installation would better fit my shop space. Did you move forward with the notion? If so, how did it work out for you? I guess same question to David Lang… did you actually do a portait orientation installation, or did you just research it. (Sound like to did indeed do one.) Any follow-up thoughts?
Thanks!

I just did the research and math for it.
