If you hold the spring clip thing attached to the power screw open, does the router slide freely in and out and mostly through the casing? If it catches, there’s probably something holding is up or you have the clamp on too tight. (I actually leave the clamp on the router body open and just adjust the bolt to the optimal tension.) Or, if you take the router out and try to adjust the z axis, does it go up and down freely?
