Troubleshooting: Issues During Calibration

After measuring distance between motors, left motor turns wrong way and chain falls off

Causes and Solutions:

  1. Directions still aren’t clear enough:
    • If using top-feed arrangement (left chain wraps clockwise around sprocket and slack drops down toward ground)
      • After measuring distance, leave the left chain where it is on the left sprocket and just remove the end from the right sprocket. Don’t reset the chain on left sprocket. You’ll have a lot of chain fed out, so carefully handle it so the chain doesn’t tangle.
      • Apply right chain to right sprocket such that the first link of the chain is on the 12 o’clock tooth of the right sprocket.

      • On next screen, there are buttons to adjust the left chain, right chain, move to center, stop and next
        • Press the “Adjust Left Chain” button… it will feed out 1650 mm of chain (assuming you didn’t change the default settings)
        • Press the “Adjust Right Chain” button…
        • Attach sled to chains
        • Press “Move to Center”
        • Press “Next”
    • If using bottom-feed arrangement (left chain wraps counter-clockwise around sprocket and slack runs horizontal along top beam)
      • After measuring distance, the next step will be to remove the chains. Do so.
      • You will then be asked to set the sprockets to vertical. Do so by pressing “Automatic”
      • Reapply the chains to the sprockets such that the first link is on the 12 o’clock tooth of the respective sprocket.
