What Causes the Wobbling?

I was doing a test on 1.25 x 5 x 48 inch Douglas Fir for some grab rails. The first cutout was almost perfect the second cutout has wobbling. I terminated the inside cut file and started the outside cut file; it had the wobbling also. I terminated the run and inspected the 1/4-inch up spiral end mill bit and could not see any issues. I have retired the bit. I have a similar bit from Whitesides that I could try if the conciseness is that the problem was caused but the router bit.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

In the near term I am going to make a template from 3/4-inch MDF and so I can use a pattern bit in my hand-held router.

How is the tension in the belts looking when this is happening?

That kind of wobbling is usually caused by the tension being too high and one motor is fighting the other.

Running “locate anchor points” again is usually the fix. It will improve on its previous measurements each time to get better
