Maybe try reducing the feed rate and/or increasing the RPMs (not a huge range on RPM adjustment though) would help with reducing the chatter you’re seeing.

No, friction between the sled and the workpiece is all harmful (impossible to
eliminate, but harmful)
the weight of the sled and the tension on the belts produce force to keep the
sled in contact with the workpiece.
Friction causes the sled to not want to move and instead want to tip as the
belts pull on it.
