In the end, I decided to use the opportunity that was given to me and when the two stepper motors were working, I launched into the cutting of my design for a corner table that will serve as a meditation altar for its new owner
It seems like a simple cut, but making it fit three dimensions with Maslow’s has been a challenge.
One-third of a 15mm plywood sheet was used in this project.
After a bit of sanding and manual adjustment of the fit, the prototype proves it can stand up, can withstand weight, and doesn’t wobble (no nails, screws, or glue here, just assembly). We tested how the laser-cut mandala would look (five circular pieces of 3mm plywood) before applying resin.
The wood was protected with a mixture of linseed oil, beeswax, and turpentine. I’d never applied a layer of resin as thick as the one used on the mandala, and it was complex. Even a mosquito was immortalized there

For the position it will be used in, I found a sensitivity switch on AliExpress that fit nicely behind a knot in the wood. For the position it will be used in, I found a sensitivity switch on AliExpress that fit nicely behind a knot in the wood.
The goal is to be able to assemble and disassemble it with virtually no tools.
In any case, the cuts were made, and the stepper motor didn’t fail. After a few days, I tried to move the machine, and the motor no longer wanted to work, but it seems that if I leave it on for a while (30 minutes), it works.
I prefer to wait for the replacement; it’s not pleasant when a cut is damaged.
