Yes, I can absolutely test that. I just placed some anchors on the floor in a not even remotely rectangular pattern so we should have a good test case there.
The key here is that ANY two points can be said to define a line (that’s sort of the definition of a line) so we aren’t assuming that they are exactly horizontal, we’re saying that they define the line in the X-axis. You are right that it will have the result that when we cut a straight line in the X axis on the wood it will be parallel to the line defined by those two anchors which may or may not line up with the floor.
