Python 2.7 and python 3

Hello,

how long Ground control will work with pyton 2.7? when python 3?
I ask becasue python 2.7 has its days counted.

regards

I’ll bet that python 2.7 is around for decades, in spite of what the python
people want.

There are currently no plans to re-write Ground Control to python 3, but we are
looking at migrating to WebControl (a browser based version) and that may end up
in python 3

Thank you

Great timing! Maybe you have seen this:
“DEPRECATION: Python 2.7 will reach the end of its life on January 1st, 2020. Please upgrade your Python as Python 2.7 won’t be maintained after that date. A future version of pip will drop support for Python 2.7.” ?

I agree but there is a lot of moving parts with getting our current GC (and holey calibration fork GC) to work with standard operating systems. Eliminating as many of those variables as possible is ideal. Hopefully WebControl can be implemented in a way that works for decades to come
