I attempted my first full depth ( 2 inch ) cut and things went well the first 50% of the cut then it started to get too hot and melted things. Now I have some gunk on the bit I need to clean off.
I’m gonna try slowing down my feed rate to 900. ( had it at 1444 ) . Router speed was at 6.

slowing down the feedrate will generate more heat.
slow down the router and increase the feedrate as much as you can to generate
less heat.
the heat is from the bit rubbing against the material that isn’t being cut, not
from the cutting itself.
