4.1 upgrade possible errors adding to 4.0 build

Reassembling my Maslow after adding the spool upgrade parts I find it is possible, because I did it, to overtighten the nuts and or bolts when “pre-assembling” these. Result went unnoticed, and only on one. I experimented with a couple of tools to speed up the ‘nuts on - nuts off’ method of pulling the bolts in. The bolts pulled in far enough to cause bulges on the inside of the spool in three or four places, hence it will not freely slide on the router case or turn. I was considering trying to just polish off the lumps and go ahead, but I see the metal is protruding into the bulge, that is if I clean up the bulged plastic, I would still have the hardware punching into the router case.

So, if there are no cases of excessively soft plastic being used on some of these, then watch how much pressure you use to seat the nuts and bolts in the spools’.

I hope I was sufficiently clear in my explanation.

I’m ordering a new spool (2 halves) to replace this.

I think it’s worth getting slightly longer bolts so they engage in the locking part of the nuts, which means you don’t have to do them up as tightly to be secure.

I use these (the heads are also a little narrower so they fit the holes better)
