Belt slacking after upgrade to 1.09 and 1.10

After upgrading to 1.09 as well as 1.10. I did a successful calibration. I then attempted to move the sled 400mm both to the right and to the left. The trailing belts would go slack. I have restored to 1.80 and everything works. Any insight would be great.

Has anyone else seen this same behavior being different in 1.09 or 1.10?

Ooo I have another theory!

I changed the default calibration grid size to be much smaller in 1.09 which makes it easier to pass, but it might be giving you worse values for where the anchor points are.

You could try increasing the grid size both in dimensions and also number of points:

once you get a good calibration (anchor point locations), you should save them
and enter them in a new release rather than running a new calibration.

I tried your suggestion and made the Width and Height 500mm and the grid 9x9. i got a good calibration, and it did the same thing with the trailing belts losing tension on a mover of 400mm…. The interesting thing is that they tighten up when you move it back 400mm. I then reinstalled 1.08 again, and it once again worked with no slack. Can I use the calibration file from 1.08 with 1.10 as Dlang suggested?

You can’t use it directly as the variable names have changed. You can update the values by going to FluidNC tab, then Config Items and set the following to match corresponding entries in 1.08 yaml file.

You need to Set each value and then Save.

This does sound like an issue with the calibration values. They’re accurate in the middle of the sheet, but as you get closer to the anchor points any error there is adding extra slack.

I think that this is a great idea. @ian_ab is right that you will want to copy over the X and Y location of each anchor point instead of just uploading the file (because the formatting has changed) but the thing we care about is the frame measurements and those can be copied over.

I was seeing this in 1.10 after a successful calibration. 500x500 5x5.

That is good feedback, this is top of my list to dig into
