How to v carve signs
I did some simple ones v carving letters just setting up the text in inkscape and then importing that outline to generate gcode using krabzcam. It has settings for v bit and number of passes. And depth. I did the same with a Ghostbusters logo and pocket cuts of various depths with a normal rectangular two flute bit. There are projects in the projects part of the forum where people have carved elaborate military badges. I would get some scrap wood and play. The main limitation is that the Maslow rides on the sled so don’t plan things that have voids wider than about 8 inches. When in doubt run some tests on scrap.
- Get logos or letters ready in inkscape or another vector drawing program
- Make sure they don’t overlap or have fill color and select the parts that you want cut the same and change their lines to exactly the same colour. Red for letters. Blue for deeper graphics for example.
- Export as a plain SVG.
- Import that into krabzcam on the web select each part and use the left setting charts to set type of tool. Size. Depth passes and speed.
- Export each gcode set as a .NC file
- Upload to Maslow.
Look through the projects forum for ideas of what is possible. Experiment.
