Finished building maslow, using only $25 router

I received the maslow a few days ago in China and can’t wait to finish the build and calibration.

Since dewalt611 cannot be purchased in China, I chose Dongcheng router, which is the most common and easily available in China. It only costs $25.
The top cover was redesigned to have side cable outlet, and the PCB bracket was mixed to match the top cover.
and the casing was 3d printed to reach 69mm diameter。

The anchor points are fixed using 10mm bolts and 3D printed thumb nuts.

I also made a test cut on the base plate and it worked just fine.

A 3D printed dust collection interface is used to connect to the small vacuum cleaner.

If you need my help, just let me know.

Beautifully done!

This is beautiful!

Also we’ve been loosely keeping track of where each one gets sent and we get excited whenever there is a new country. We were just talking about how it was sad that there were none in all of China yet so it’s exciting to see one there! Great work!

Can you share more information about how this was done? I think that many other folks could benefit from this

Sure, I’ll make a post describing how to do this.

当然可以,我在另一个帖子里发了外壳的文件,How to use any router
这是那个帖子的链接,稍后我会把东成顶盖和修改后的pcb支架也放上去。
我还制作了一个参数化模型,稍后也会分享出来,方便不同的修边机使用。

I admire how you creatively solved the router issue.
Can you help with where to purchase a redesigned Dongcheng router with side cable outlet.? I am expecting my M4 soon
I live in Nigeria and dewalt router is not within reach. I am also new to cnc work.

Whatever router you get, get one where the power cord comes into the side of it, not into the top.

You will need access to a 3D printer to make a different PCB mount for whatever you get.

Also, I did this: M4 Router Mounter Be-Gone (use any router with a side entry cord) - Hardware - Maslow CNC Forums

Which is an alternate to making a PCB mount that clips into the router.

OP had to modify their router by making a replacement for the upper housing.

I’d second prioritizing getting a router with the cable going in the desired direction and with the same circumference (or slightly smaller) as the Dewalt the Maslow was designed for. If you can’t get the exact size, there are a few ways to resolve that (one being 3d printing a sleeve) as long as it’s smaller rather than larger.

I am not sure if Dongcheng router is available in Nigeria, if it is available, then you can download the side outlet top cover I created and use 3D printing to make it. It can be replaced simply by removing a few screws.
