Using Makerverse Version 1.1.3-laser.296 (1.1.3-laser.296.296) on my iMac to connect to an M2.
When I enter the $$ code in the console all I get back is an ok. How do see what current values are set?

they should be in a side bar on the left.
I see that but are all of them there? What order are they in, is the top $1? Seems to me they should be labeled as such in addition to function.

You can disconnect from makerverse and use a serial terminal (such as realterm) and type that command and get them all if you want. Makerverse is a fancy serial communication program and it doesn’t make all communication text transparent to the user’s view.
