Horizontal configuration test footage

Thanks! When I get the hardware I will experiment with some other ideas. I also like the garage floor concept discussed here, as that is where I store my sheetgoods.

Do you feel a 77" x 77" would work? What is the offset needed from 0 position to the sides of the rectangle perimeter defined by the belt posts?

24" is the recommendation, there hasn’t been much testing to see how the errors
build up as you get closer.

One problem is that the belts are anchored at the level of the workpiece, if you
instead put them on standoffs so that they are parallel to the workpiece rather
than angled down, you should be able to get closer, but how close is going to
depend on how much friction there is between the sled and the workpiece, how
fast you are moving, and how sharp your bit is.

One thing to consider. The sled i believe is 14-16 in diameter. Which means 7 or 8 inches extend beyond workpiece edge just to get bit tp edge of workpiece. So if everything else werre perfect that would be absolute minimum. Bar says minimums are 12" with 24" recomended. I am workung on a frame design that uses 2 ladders with canvas in between ladders. The center of the canvas will be open with plywood extending beyond frame forcslec support and to attach canvus to each ladder. I want to use 1x4 for frame to make it lighter. Plywood cut in half both length and width. With a least 6" overhang of 4x8 ft work area so cuttin to edges will be possible. Which nakes storage 5ft x 9ft.

With 77" sq area the largest routing size would likely be about 4ft sq

Hope that helps tou

So if I understand this correctly, if I want a 4’x4’ work area my frame needs to be at least 8’ x 8’

For best calibration that is true.

Plans call for 8 ft x 12 ft frame for 4x8 plywood. My plans envolve 2 8ft ladders and 4x8 ft. Canvas centered half way up the ladders. That will give the 8x12 footprint. Angle is 65 deg verses 75 on sloped version. Can do smaller cuts on deck whichh is 10x10. Trying to decide if i want to make canvas as 2 pieces for easier storage. I.E. 2 4x4 canvas bolted together.

Thanks…

Interested on seeing this frame. I can’t quite picture it in my head.
