I’ve gotten it to calibrate and successfully cut once but now there’s been times calibration will go on for an hour or times it does work when I go to cut it says I disconnected and have to retract and extend belts again which just restarts the whole process and plus I’m not sure that the calibration is saving, side note do you have to raise it up with tension when putting in new bit cause it seems pretty tight.
Which firmware version are you on? The newest one speeds up the computation of the anchor point locations quite a lot to fix that taking hours issue that you were seeing.
You also shouldn’t need to relocate the anchor points unless they move so if the process works once you should be good to go
I’ll try to install a newer version
Funny enough midway through installing a new software it says I am disconnected
That sounds normal to me, the firmware update will make the machine restart so it should disconnect at that point
I did see I’m on 0.88 so I’ll try the usb download and hopefully that solves everything
I’m having all kinds of fun problems, mid cut it stopped and said it lost its position and I’d have to retract and reextend. One belt I had notice was becoming a little looser than the others causing a squiggly line some parts. Also any tips for getting a piece with exact dimensions of a 4x8 sheet of plywood to get perfectly aligned in the workspace?
When it fails mid cut, and loses position, it can not be reliably determine where it is. The safest option is a power off, disconnect belts, retract, extend, reconnect and apply tension. Generally the Z stop and Z home heights will always require resetting.
If you are willing to risk being a few mm out you can just power off, power on and you may be able to restart the cut after resetting the Z stop and Z Home.
To reset the Z stop with a bit in the machine, physically raise the Maslow so the bit clears the work surface when lowered right down. This is best done after releasing tension.
If you took notice of the Z home setting you can set this without going through the full procedure to adjust it to your work surface, so long as the Z stop is set first.
My worktable is on wheels so if I have moved it I need to reset it each time.
To align a sheet, I jog to the bottom left corner with the float of the Maslow just touching each edge, I then jog to the bottom right without moving the Y value and adjust table so the edges line up again. If I am confident that only one end of the table has moved, that’s it. Otherwise, I move back to bottom left and check again.
You could use a similar method to ensure work piece is aligned correctly.
If you want to cut to the edges of the board, you need to provide something for the Maslow to ride on past the edges, or it will tip when not supported. This needs to be at the same height as you work piece but does not need to be touching the work.
This indicates your anchor points may not be correct. Also try lowering the retract force to 900 and confirm you can reliably extend and retract all the belts before re-running Find Anchors. If not increase by 100 and try again. If you need a retract force above 1300, then consider sanding and lubricating the spools. This a major undertaking. The lower the force required to move around the more reliable the Maslow is.
