Maslow Spindle-Lock Toggle Clamp

While upgrading the Maslow from 4.0 to 4.1 I took a little time to build my own take at a spindle/collect lock. I’ve used the one shared in The Not Shop (Button Pusher) with good success, but I decided to try my hand at a design. This toggle lock uses the spring tension of the spindle lock button and a small over rotation of the actuator to lock everything in place in place during use. With the flick of the knob, you can go from unlocked to locked freeing both hands to make bit changes. For downloads, jump to here:

The following images show the parts used and the locked and unlocked positions on the Maslow CNC. Note, the Maslow is shown with the sled removed for a clear picture of its use. It is meant to be used with the Maslow fully assembled by reaching under the belts above the sled to insert and use.

Pop and Lock!

This is SO COOL!! It’s for sure fiddly to reach up in there and place the other one so this is super nice

When I get some down time, I will modify the design to use only M3x10 bolts (we all have extras of these, am I right?). I may change the knob design a bit from its current cookie jar inspired shape to more of a paddle toggle.
