I added the capability for you to have multiple yaml files on the system and use
a pulldown item in the preferences menu to switch between them. so you have have
one setup for a small inside frame and one for an outside frame.

I was thinking LVL perimeter, and 2x6 “joists” it’s basically going to go wall to wall along the back of my shop, which is brick, old brick. So freestanding or free standing with light anchoring to the walls was what I’m thinking.

You guys need to forgive me, I haven’t figured out the quote insertion method yet…working on it as I see what I’m wanting to quote isn’t showing up

stiffness (i.e. the anchors don’t move, even when pulled with significant force)
is more important than strightness. everything else can be measured (either
manually or with the system)

I absolutely did and played around with it. Seems I’m in the ball park decently with an 11x7 platen.

So maybe just a micro lam at the bottom, and lag directly into the joist just above with the anchors? Or maybe Hilti anchors in the floor to bolt anchors to? I had one sort of triangle shaped frame in mind 11x7@15* rake and a 4x8 platen and spoil board mounted in the center .

Ok this might be a little long winded

The kit I put together was a 4.0 w/all the 4.1 upgrades (including hardware kit more on this later)

So I’ll start with the criticisms.

The included tool in the torx 4.1 hardware kit flat out sucks and makes the entire process feel more like a punishment to the point the tool was rounded over before all the arms were assembled making the tool useless. at that point I switched over to the 4.0 Allen keyed hardware but keeped using the locking nuts from the 4.1 hardware kit for the remainder.

The hardware in general and the lack of torque specs made it difficult with the term “not overly tightened” ect. This means different things to different people. Specific torque to be used is what’s needed or upgraded hardware size. This i understand would be hard with the size of the hardware.

Tolerances are never discussed or given such as the combined tolerance in the arm stack between the last arm and the bottom arm caller (mine is large around 1/8 to 1/4, was a mistake made? Don’t know).

What I liked

You didn’t slip on the hardware, there are plenty of nuts and bolts leftover. I dropped a lot on the floor and it wasn’t a problem.

The injection molded plastic feels solid.

The design is clever.

Tomorrow if I have time I’ll plug it in and see if I can get the belts to retract. I haven’t built a frame for it yet and that’s on my list to do.

@Bar any word on when the 4.1 will be back in stock?

Was able to power up the maslow and I was able to connect to its wifi network and got to move the z around and got to see a full 4 belt coil and tho that was definitely cool and gave delta printer vibes.

I agree, I have done a couple of thins

  1. buy a hardened steel tool, the oens that ship are far too soft

  2. I mostly switched to these bolts (2mm longer so they better engage with the
    nylock nuts, heads aren’t as wide so they fit the holes nicesly, deeper sockets
    so they fit the hex key without stripping, and then I got a hardened hex key).
    the only thing they don’t work well for is the anchor ends
