Am I wrong this GORDIX on kickstarter is just the maslow but with 8 motors and belts to drive it but they are charging 4 times as much. Are they using a mathematical center this is going to use way more processing to move right?

That’s basically my take on it. I think that they sort of backed themselves into a corner where they have to make sure that the sled doesn’t rotate because the anchor points for the belts aren’t at the center of the sled.
There might be some other benefits to having the extra belts that I’m not aware of though, we’ll have to find out when they ship.
Overall I think it’s really cool that they are innovating and trying different things instead of making a direct copy. It’s not the machine I would have built, but that’s great!
I wonder if it might be as simple as wanting something distinct enough to be patentable - I suspect it would pass the test of being a non-obvious step with potential benefits (even if it’s at a cost of complexity).
