Reusable Github Molecules (you might not know about)

Although not every shape is available in the main Abundance menu, there’s lots more shapes available as github molecules. This is a thread for any shape or part that you’ve made that you think other people can use when modeling their own projects. Place any of these molecules into your own Abundance project by placing a github molecule or opening the github molecule panel and searching for its name.

I am new to all this; it would be great if you had a glossary of terms and what software comes first. and how they are needed or not needed. Step one to step two…… to downloading.

I just watched the Abundance video, is there a book to follow as Bar you are at warp speed…..and I am old!

Hello Kenedove, I am not making abundance work but am enjoying using it a lot too, If you have questions about how to get started I might be able to help some. I watch a lot of youtube videos on half speed or 3/4 speed when I am trying to get started on something new. I really like the speed setting. : )

Hello @kenedove I wrote up a getting started guide here I can do more if that is helpful:

hi kenedove! They’re not super comprehensive yet but i’m working on some guided tutorials for Abundance. Right now, you should be able to access the most basic one. After you log in, go to the Getting Started Tab, in the tutorials dropdown you should be able to see the Abundance Basics tutorial. If you click it, a tutorial project will be created for you and you’ll be guided through some of the most basic concepts of the program.

There is also some basic documentation of the project in this user guide:

@mo-at-maslow If you would like some help building tutorials I could help some with that. Send me a topic and a format if that is interesting.

I think I will be making some space for abundance modeling videos in the getting started tab so I think making more of those would be helpful, specially since you are modeling multipart more complex projects. I’m not sure if you’ve been using the code atom much but I think videos demonstrating how to use that molecule to not only make parts but to make github molecules that are useful as tools in other projects, a.e(“Round Corners”, “Fillet Bottom Face” etc)

I will take a look at it. I haven’t used the code atom at all and I had limited programming experience. Will take a look.

@mo-at-maslow I peeked at the code molecule. I am sorry I don’t think I have enough programming to teach that well now. I may play with it a bit.

@wouldchuck Sounds good, no pressure. Seems like you’re doing awesome without it, and whatever tutorials seem interesting to you I think would be beneficial to others.

Made a new tool to make copies of things spread out in space. Import into your project add a shape, a number or repeats and a spacing and it will make lots of them. You may need to enter the molecule to copy and paste the units, I currently have it set up for 1-5

fun

Used it to make shelves from a single shelf unit.

Brilliant! That is an excellent way to build something like that up in a parametric way
