Router DW611 or D26204K-XE

Hello, can anyone offer advice, the DeWalt DW611 router is not available in Australia, the closest model available that I can find is the D26204K-XE 900W and it will be a special order as the shops are only stocking batttery powered units now. Can anyone assist me with advice? Will this router work with the Maslow?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have not finished assembly due to uncertainty about the router.

look at the router-b-gone thread and get either the 500w brushed or 600w
brushless spindle instead.

This router is available in Australia through Sydney Tools, I have one, I live on the Central Coast NSW, However, having said that they are expensive and David’s suggestion of a Spindle and the Router-b-Gone thread is a cheaper and more flexible alternative. You will need to 3D print a sleeve (or have one printed). I have not tried a spindle but a number of people report success and the cost less than half of the D26204. (Price $669)
Where in Australia are you?
Also, before you assemble the arms, ensure the spools rotate easily. A number of us have found that it is advantages to sand where the spool rotates to reduce friction and apply a silicone lubricant. Much easier to do prior to assembly.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks for confirming the D26204 will work, I’m in Brisbane. I’m in favor of just using the dewalt router at this point rather than the spindle. I’m an absolute newbie so thanks for the tip on silicone lubricant, I will do this.

My next major step will be getting my head around the software to drive it all. What are you using?

I use Inkscape and KrabzCAM ( KrabzCAM) together to generate the code. Bar is also developing a nice comprehensive development program Abundance Beta (Green Button on Maslow Forums) which lets you develop projects from conception to GCode. I use this as well. You can also generate stl and step files for 3D printing.

The main control board mounting bracket does not fit D26204 and the power cord comes out vertically instead of horizontally like the DW611. I 3D printed my own design for the D26204 which mounts the control board differently. I can share with you if you have access to a 3D printer or I can print and send a set to you if you don’t.
