I just have regular concrete, not polished or epoxied. Will a 15/32 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft sheet of plywood stay put? or should I just plan to add anchors for the spoil board in the concrete as well?
If you had issues, those rolls of mesh rubber you can get for cabinets might be enough to keep it from slipping, but having anchors for the spoilboard would help with having the material in the same place relative to the outer anchors every time.
I use these and they seem to work pretty well
Thanks Carson and Bar - I will see if it moves without doing anything first then try the pad if needed.
I’ve been using this double-sided woodworking tape to attach the workpiece to the spoil board and spoil board to my workbench. I would expect it would work well on concrete too. (It is easy to remove and doesn’t seem to leave residue either.)
Following up. I tested engraving on a 1/8 mdf and it was no problem, neither the spoil board or work piece moved. I outlined it with a sharpie and made some registration marks on the concrete so I get it in the same spot between use.
I’ll try double sided tape for acrylic or thinner lighter materials.
Ooh, so that tip DID work out! Sweet!
Stuff is great, isn’t it? (for more than just Maslow! My favorite use is for holding a piece for hand sanding. Also incredible as a non-slip mat for stuff in the car/truck)
