Working Desk

Looks great!! Just got my M2 and will be working on getting it all set up. This will be one of my first projects once I get her dialed in. From what I gather patience is the key.

Gary - Thank you for these files!

I imported them into Fusion and am trying to scale it up to fit my computer case in the bottom, but I can’t figure out how to scale the X and Y dimensions without messing up the slots (that are currently sized for 1/2” plywood). Any suggestions?

My other goal is to enclose the area around computer case so I can use a typical home air filter on one side to keep dust away from the PC (an idea inspired by this design: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1142694586/cnc-rolling-workstation-for-desk-top-pc ).

This image illustrates what I’m ultimately trying to do, but scaling it up without messing up the slots is part of it. Any ideas welcome and appreciated. Thanks!

Seth,

Well, the only thing I would try is to draw a box or connecting poly lines around each existing part then scale the boxes without messing with the original part outline. Don’t draw the slots , just a rectangle enclosed object.

Then draw lines and enclose the slots on the original. Select one slot at a time and snap the ends to the redraw dimensions with changing original x,y position.

Remove the slot end to create the opening and radius as required.

Should work…. BTW I use Vectric Aspire and QCAD. For drawing cad files.

I’m going to draft it up in onshape so that it is parameterized.

I’ll probably have something later today.

The front and back have a slot for the bottom shelf, but they also have a notch on the top (without the corners rounded), does anyone know why that is there?

I created a version of this in onshape where just about everything is controlled by variables. I have not gone through to change the variables to config options, so you have to create an onshape account and clone it to get access to tweak it (free, don’t create a trial account, just a free one)
I modified it so that there are a couple of pegs through the support in the middle rather then relying on the top shelves. This should make it easier to assemble.

the flat pack button will attempt to make a cut sheet diagram, but it’s not very good at it, so just exporting from the drawing and arranging it yourself should be much better (you need to have your own copy to be able to update the drawing page if you change parameters)

That slot in the top appears to be for cable management that allows you to move them without unplugging from whatever is on top (monitor or laptop).

I was referring to the square slot on the top of the front and back leg braces,
not the curved T slot at the back of the top shelves
