Is there a way to turn off the cooling fan when you leave it powered up with a file paused? If have to my work space and don’t want to leave the machine processing but also I don’t want to shut it down and lose my work. Is there a way in the ui to turn off the cooling fan function while the machine and file are paused overnight. If not is that a plausible thing to add to the firmware??
When the machine is paused the motor drivers are working to hold the machine in position which can actually be quite a lot of work depending on the tension in the belts so they need the cooling fan to keep from overheating ![]()
Ok so out of curiosity I have to ask why that isn’t the case when you aren’t running a file let’s say idle position. The machine is still trying to hold position even when in idle correct? The fan is not on when its in that mode. Just asking.
In the idle position the motors will power off, if the belts are under a lot of tension like at the top of the sheet you might see the machine relax a bit. It’s a lot less noticeable in horizontal mode
Ok so my last question and really the point to them all. Will it hurt anything to leave the machine in the paused state with the fan running all night? I did not anticipate having to stop short of completing the run but it is what it is and I do not want to start it over. Is it okay for the fan to run that long.
I wouldn’t make a habit of it, but it should be totally OK for the night
