Does anyone know how tight a tolerance this can hold?
Maslow is very precise (not sure it’s been quantified but it’s quite impressive). However, accuracy varies greatly depending upon how well the end user builds and calibrates it. The goal is 0.5 mm accuracy but I suspect most people see around 1mm or so. Lots of factors affect accuracy that don’t affect precision.

repeatability is very good, having the measurements match a tape measure, not
quite as good.
many people get it to ithin 1/8" a few have bettered 1/16", the goal is 1/64"
but we are not there, mostly due to software limits.
