Each restart needs recalibration

Is anyone else having the problem of having to re-calibrate any time the maslow is restarted? I have gotten to the point that I have ordered a new motherboard just in case it is just my machine.

That is definitely not normal. Can you put up a copy of your Serial log after a restart. Also click on Test under setup which will indicate versions your Maslow is running.

Maslow-serial.log (30.2 KB)

I am currently running a calibration but this is the log so far and this error is occurring: [MSG:ERR: Calibration data not acknowledged by computer, resending]

It now seems to be stuck in a loop….

Do you have multiple browser windows open. Find Anchor Locations does not like that.
Which version of firmware and index, html.gz are you running? It looks like V1,17 (latest)

You are getting an error

Indicating Maslow is not receiving an indication data is being received by the browser (it is).
You can try Refreshing the browser or closing all browser windows connected to Maslow as I don’t think it will drop out of that loop by itself. It will mean you have to Retract, Extend again.
Have you got alternate browser you can try. You could also try connecting via browser on your mobile phone.

It can’t be the browser as I have run the process from this browser many many times as I have to re-calibrate each time I restart the maslow or run into any issue such as a software crash(on the maslow)… I will give it all another go tomorrow. Just in case, which browser is the supported or recommended one to use?

what is it that is telling you that you need to recalibrate every time you
restart the maslow?

you need to retract/extend/apply tension, but not run find anchors if the
anchors haven’t moved

David Lang

Hi David, whenever I restart the Maslow retract/extend/apply tension the Maslow always says not ready to move/unknown state

I think where your error may be coming from is the Maslow server does not connect to the internet, and your browser expects to find an internet connection, when it doesn’t it considers the Maslow to be a risky site and restricts access, which is why I suggested you try a different browser or via a phone. If you can connect to your local network that may also work.
Go to FluidNC, then Flash Settings and enter your local network to Sta/SSID and Password

I use Microsoft Edge

What is the exact message that you are getting? An unknown state doesn’t always mean that you have to do the whole process of finding the anchor points again, you should be able to just press “Apply Tension”

@bar, oddbyte’s machine is going into a loop and repeating the following until interrupted:

It then repeats

It’s only processing the initial data, never moving on to the next stage.

Hmmm yeah that is super weird!

The only time that I’ve seen that before is when machine was opened in two different tabs at the same time, is there a chance that is happening here?

I have asked @oddbyte to confirm it was only one.

Hi, I think the two browser problem could have been the case, I’m going to be working with it today so I’ll update progress but this isn’t the real issue anyway its the first time it has gotten stuck at the calibration stage. The real issue is having to recalibrate each time before it will do anything. I’ll post the log again today and also the exact message I am getting when it is not ready to move.

I think it might be the same problem. I suspect your Maslow has not updated the maslow.yaml file with the calculated values, which means it doesn’t know where the anchor points are, so it’s starting from scratch each time. Can you put a copy of the maslow.yaml file here so I can see if that makes sense?

Here is the yaml file before I did a re-calibrate. I am currently running the calibrate then I will post the serial log and yaml file

maslow.yaml (6.9 KB)

Just in case it matters I am running Debian 13 with firefox 140.6.0esr

Also I have checked and definitely only one browser tab/window

Ok here is the serial log and maslow.yaml after a successful calibration

maslow(2).yaml (6.9 KB)

Maslow-serial(1).log (128.0 KB)

Ok so after the calibration I did release tension, turned it off then on, the apply tension button is greyed out and if I click it anyway I get

Apply Tension
[MSG:INFO: Requesting state change from Unknown to Taking Slack]
[MSG:INFO: Cannot take slack until the belts have been extended]

Also I have attached the latest serial log from this restart.

Maslow-serial(4).log (2.4 KB)

It is strange that you are starting out in an unknown state, but it shouldn’t require re-running calibration.

Can you try Retract All (let them fully pull into the machine) → Extend All (extend them out and connect to the frame) → Apply Tension

I have done this many many times… it does not help. I can do it one more time if you want
