Enclosure to control sound

We are a Makerspace that has just ordered a Maslow unit and plan on installing it in our wood shop. Since we want to keep the shop available for multiple users at all times, I was thinking about building an enclosure (yeah, a pretty BIG enclosure) to help dampen the scream of the running router. I am wondering if anyone else has tried this, and what has been your level of success? I think it may help in dust control as well. How much clearance would you recommend between front of Maslow and enclosure doors? Feedback would be appreciated.

Welcome @llamalane! Take a look at this post. The picture of the enclosure is in the middle of the post…

once you turn down the speed of the router, you may be surprised at how much the
noise level drops. Different bits also affect the speed. At makerfaire I gave
Bar a single flute straight cut but and it was significantly quieter than the
stock bit he had been using.

This is interesting.
