FoxAlien 1.5kw 65mm spindle

I spotted this, I can’t decide how interesting it is for us.

Pros:

  • It appears to be a turn-key, drop in (with 65mm adapter), ‘full sized’ spindle with VFD.
  • It does come with a 5m lead.
  • It (theoretically) has better support than a DIY job.
  • It’s long enough that I could make even thicker clamps :laughing: though again that’s true of a DIY one.

Cons

  • It’s 2x the price of a DIY 1.5kw aircooled spindle, and 4x the price of a router.
  • It’s almost certainly too much spindle for an un-modified Maslow (both in terms of adding weight and an unmodified Maslow not being stiff enough to get the benefits of a beefier spindle).

It’s still very tempting to get one to play with…
