this just happen to me also. Same gear by the looks
Sorry to hear, unfortunately my only solution was to order new motors from the Maslow spare parts people. These gears do seem to be the weak point.
I spoke with @bar briefly and he mentioned trying to get a batch of replacements. I have contacted etonm, but we seems to be having communication issues.
Hoping somebody can get their hands on a whole wack of them so we can have a source stateside (or Canada side)
Also… For those following. After 2 weeks of heavy antibiotics my dog is back to normal… My wallet not so much. Then got sent out of town for a week with work.
Next week I’m back to Maslowing everyday. Can’t wait to post some updates
I’m currently a passenger in a car, so forgive Grammer and punctuation.
But last week Friday my replacement gears arrived. Before ever sticking them on the frame, I opened them and compared to my used and dead ones. The difference is amazingly obvious.
The used motors are caked in metal dust. Clearly, as soon as the gears begin to wear it’s only a matter of time before a failure. As the metal dust is just grinding the teeth away.
The new motors felt grossly under lubricated, and the lube that was on the gears wasnt placed properly and wouldn’t spread just by running the gear.
So I bought some super lube with pfte and made sure all the contact points were covered. My Maslow is currently sitting paused (a small pocket v groove cut) that I plan on finishing Wednesday. Then I’m gonna open the new gears and do a check for metal dust.
If it’s in there … I’m thinking it might need to be cleaned and lubricated before each long job … Which sounds … Tedious and annoying hahah
Anyway. I’ll update when I know more.
it’s hard to see what gears are bad, maybe you can clean the black grease off and we can see the damage better?
If you look up a little farther you’ll see my post where I’ve circled the damaged gear.
This photo is the comparison of a used gear vs unused
And that’s not black gease … It’s white lithium grease with metal shavings in it …
yes I know. But my point is your gear seems to have the teeth stripped out in ONE spot of the gear, and all the other broken gears I have seen I think the wear is along the total circumference, would nice to see this abnormal wear up close without all the gunk
Well, when I get some free time I’ll clean it out. I think my abnormal wear is from a stalled cut due to an improperly placed clamp… Which also fried my board.
First check is completing a cut and checking new gears for signs of wear.
