Tried unplugging and reconnecting

Click on the red alarm button and you should be good to go. The latest firmware has a better warning for that since error:9 isn’t very helpful

When you say “starting calibration” did you first (with maslow off the frame) Bottom out the Z motors without a bit in,retract-all, then extend-all, then hang the machine, then hit calibrate and nothing is moving?

thanks for that note
i haven’t hit “calibrate” yet
I’m at the “bottom out the z” part of the setup
however the z motors won’t activate.

If the button above the serial messages is red and says “alarm”, you can click it to reset then z should move.

Probably should have mentioned in the title
This is after the alarm button has been pressed
So it says jog
Or sometimes idle
When I start trying to move the z
The fan spins up
But the motors don’t react

I see you have the “SD card init error”. That also happened to me with the last two firmware updates. What helped was to clean the yaml file from any comments, from any unnecessary spacing and from empty lines and then reupload it to the machine. From the moment the “sd card init error” disappeared, my z-axis moved again.
