I had a motor gear fail and you'll never guess which one

Cool idea! FWIW, ~13 foot is needed for each side with the 12’ top beam.

That’s the convention, however, my 10’ beam is 1/16" away from the wall on either end. Henceforth I have been thinking on an alternative solution.

Would it be a good idea to loosen the chain gears, put the chain on the bottom corner, add weight till it starts to lift, and then remove some weight? If i did it like that there can’t be too much counterweight, right?
I’ve been having accuracy problems lately, thinking back it’s probably since i changed from springs to counterweights. I’m now assuming that’s the cause, i’ve been here long enough to have figured it out myself. :frowning:
