JST Upgrade Install - Loctite got me

I got the upgrade JST kit, and I am taking/photos and notes of the install. On the last motor screw that is loctited in the arm, the wrench slipped and now I can’t get a bite on the screw head. I tried a tight torx fitting, but no joy. I’m going to try some left handed drill bits and at worst drill out the head if nothing else? Anyone have a trick for removing them?

Also how important are the stick on heat sinks for the motor drivers? My new board didn’t come with them. I’m not sure if I need them?

I haven’t tried getting the threadlocked screws out, but I was able to get a stripped screw out before by putting a small drop of super glue on the tip of the driver-bit I was using and then sticking it in the screw head and letting it dry before trying to turn it. It gave enough traction to get the screw moving finally. Kinda a last resort, but I’d try that before drilling. Just be very careful on the amount of glue and when inserting it into the screwhead because supergluing the screw in place will only exacerbate your problems.

These worked great for me:

Either Amazon switched your link or you have a really neat pant hanger screw removal technique that I’ve never heard of before.

Strange, It was showing this product before: Amazon.com

Nuovoware Damaged Screw Extractor Set, 22 PCS Easy Out Stripped Screw Extractor Kit, All-purpose HSS Broken Screw Remover Set with Magnetic Extension Bit Holder & Socket Adapter

I ordered the kit, I’m not sure I had a left handed bit small enough for the screw.

Good catch, I messed up the link and then tried to fix it and ended up with coat hangers instead :man_facepalming:

It should be fixed now :grinning:

Ended up having to drill probably 10 of the 16 screws out and then removing the rest of the screw (the shank minus the head) with vice grips. Not the most fun thing I’ve ever done. I replaced all those screws with torx heads, so hopefully this will go better the next time around

In most places, nylock nuts and 16mm screws will work just fine. The only place
I know they will have a problem is in the anchors.
