Stripped hex screws

I ordered a replacement JST controller, encoders, and timing belts for my M4. Unfortunately, that requires a lot of disassembly and reassembly. So far, on two spools, I am stuck with one screw on each that has been stripped to the point that I can’t remove them.

I ordered this set of screw extractors from Amazon:

I am hopeful, but not convinced this will work. Does anyone know of any other tricks? My next step is to order some torx replacement screws from McMaster-Carr, so this doesn’t happen again.

I just drilled the head off just don’t use a bigger drill than 3mm
The metal is relatively soft so drills quite easily, start with a 2mm drill or smaller
The head comes off exposing enough of the shaft to either place in a vice or use pliers to grip and unscrew.
I used capheads when I assembled mine as I know that button heads can cause this problem, but cap heads are slightly high to go under idle gear so I used the provided button heads only there.

I used these and they worked really well:

So well that I couldn’t get the bolt off of one of the extractors
