I’m finally in the process of upgrading my hardware to the JST hardware. One of the heatsinks didn’t seem to stick as well as I would like. I was thinking about using hot glue to help keep it in place. Is this a bad idea?

Yes, hot glue is an insulator, you need a heat conductor. There are specific
materials that are used for attaching heat sinks, thermal paste, thermal expoxy
(permanent), and the sticky thermal pads.
