Maslow 4 Belt ruined. Got jammed in the gears

That would be the kind of thing I’d do so thanks for sharing

It’s an easy mistake to make and solely my fault getting excited to have a play.
Would be a nice feature if an info window would pop up after a couple of seconds hovering over the button to explain what it does.

Ouch! and your pcb mount doesn’t look fully engaged.

Oh it isn’t clipped in very well at all as I had to chop the clips off, it’s the uk cable out the top dewalt. Only has one clip but was going to hot glue a couple of the stand offs to the top of the router.

Well I printed and tired it but broke my standoffs trying to tighten it down flush. I printed draft ABS so I guess I will try to print it with a finer resolution to see if it could be stronger. I don’t know how much room there is in there to add some fillets or inbiggen the standoffs…

Shoot an email to Anna@maslowcnc.com and we’ll get you a replacement in the mail ASAP. We’re working on getting spares up on the shop too since you are far from alone.

Did this happen with the latest firmware? I actually added a guard in there which was supposed to prevent this from being possible (in the latest firmware you should get a warning if you press the Calibraiton button before doing the full Retract All → Extend All cycle)

Thanks that’s appreciated.

It was on the latest firmware and was all fully retracted when I clicked on calibrate, two reels started to unwind and started “overflowing” subsequently it got caught up within the gears as there was no pull on the belts to take the slack.

Is there not any code to make sure it detects the magnet pulse when the motor is running.

This is purely my error pressing the button without understanding what it does but I now know what can happen so won’t try it again until necessary.

I’m currently printing these. I’ll post a pic when done and installed.

@bar I do 3D printing on the side. I can make these available on my Etsy shop for other members if you like?

That would be fantastic!

Feel free to post any of the parts that we have up in the not shop too. We can give you a link in the not shop and a shout out in the next weekly update. Just let me know when they are posted and I’ll share the link!

I would also love it if you could test the super-simple frame brackets and if
they work, list them as well.

So I printed the V3 belt guards and installed them today. I think it needs to be tweaked though. When trying to “seat” the nuts down inside the nut pockets, it is VERY tight. I have really force them to get them all the way down. And in doing so, a few broke out of the bottom areas. If you can enlarge the “nut areas” so they can drop in more easily, then they will be perfect.

Belt Guard(4).stl (579.3 KB)

Here’s an updated version with slightly larger recesses for the nuts. I’m going to print one to test it. I noticed that they were too tight also.

Great, I’ll print these when I get home from work and see how the nuts fit. If they work good, I’ll get some more printed up and post them on my Etsy site. @bar I’ll let you know when its up. Also, can you address the dust collector? The 2 holes that go over the plexiglass part, do not line up with the lower holes.

Already fixed :grinning:

@bar Are the links updated on The Not Shop? If not, can you link the new files here?

The links in the not-shop should be good to go

I thought I needed better supports for the belt guard v4 because the standoffs kept breaking off. Turns out the standoffs are too thin for a 0.6mm nozzle with the larger nut recesses

Guess I’ll have to swap in a 0.4mm nozzle.

Yeah, I wanted to make the nut openings even larger, but then they were really really thin

Yes, the walls of the supports are too thin. It creates splits in the walls when printed. See the pics belows. The nuts drop in better now, but the supports break when you try to tighten them. The outer walls need to be thickend up. I’m using a 0.4 nozzle already.
