Maslow5 idler pulley issue

Hello all,
I just received my Maslow5 kit today and I am starting to assemble. I am having an issue with the idler pulley. The idler pulley seems to be too close to the DC motor gear. I can get the belt assembly and the idler gear to push down fully, but the fit seems to be overly tight. Is that correct?

We’re talking about the fit of the three gears together right? Like when you go to install the spool with the belt on it it fits very snugly with the other two gears? The fit there is quite snug, that is normal.

Thanks

it’s pinching the belt between them, and needs to make sure the belt can’t skip,
even if pulled in ‘odd’ directions.
