First post on here. I’ve been digging around on the forums for a few weeks now trying to read about people’s frame designs, improvements, and adjustments made. Below is the simple sketch of my proposed frame design, made from 1"x1" square tube stock and 1"x2" rectangular tube stock. I plan to weld the main frame and two supports separately, and then bolt them together. My goals were to:
- Have an additional width on the top bar of 12’ overall, and increase the distance above the work piece to help with chain tension issues
- Remove any possibility for flexing of the top motor bar
- Design an 8" skirt around the work piece to allow for the best possible edge performance.
I was hoping to get some feedback to see if there’s anything else folks on here might suggest or modify over this current design. I’ve heard some talk that going 14’ wide is even better, but I start running into space limitations in my work space going that large. It seems like I’ll need about a 15’ long chain on each side to allow the chain to be properly tension on the non-working side. Thanks for looking and any input is much appreciated!
