MillMage with Maslow

Has anyone dipped their toes with this yet? Specifically to use with Maslow.

I haven’t tried it, but I would expect it to work. We use GRBL which they support.

I would even expect the direct control from within MillMage to work, although you would have to control your machine over USB cable because I don’t think that they support a wireless link

I thought I read somewhere that the Maslow could not be controlled with a USB. Or does that just apply to the fluidnc??

It can be controlled by USB, but the desktop control software that is out there doesn’t have all the social commands like extending the belts so you would be having to type all those commands in by hand which would be super annoying

So if I’m understanding you correctly you could run the Maslow with the usb using millmage (possibly) but could not do the routine tasks of extending, retracting, setting zstop, z home, calibrating, etc without typing in the manual g codes.

Exactly.

But if you are leaving your machine set up you might not need to do those things very often.

Edit: I still think it’s going to be a lot more of a hassle than it’s worth, but it is technically possible

Controlling it from the MM is not completely necessary, however would be nice in the future when they open it for extensions maybe (I haven’t found about that yet). But I want to give it a go as a tool for arranging and setting up the cuts, I use LightBurn for laser stuff so this looks like home. And I just noticed that Fusion hid “arrange” tools in the manufacturing behind paywall.

They do offer a free trial for the software. I may give it a go and see what blocks I hit then report them. I too use light burn for laser projects. It would be nice to have an “all in one” for multiple machines though.
