I had a similar problem with my Z motor upgrade, this post may be helpful if you can follow my nonsense on how I figured mine out.

Another update: So I trimmed ~3/16 from the clamp and solved that issue. I opted not to sand or grind it off as this is printed PLA, (layers of plastic). I used the bandsaw and sealed the cut area with CA glue.
