Hello everyone, I just got a maslow cnc second hand and trying to find a cad program that an old navy guy can figure out and use for designing stuff. every one that i have found is not easy to use and there is no user guide i can print out or reference. Any suggestions on what you use will be helpful. Thanks.
An Air Force guy figured out Carbide Create…but I don’t know about a Navy guy.
Joking aside, the website has videos on how to use the program. Download V6, it’s free(any higher version won’t work).
If you need help with the program or setting up your maslow (I assume it’s the chain model), let me know.
the two most common ones are fusion360 and onshape, there are lots of videos on
youtube to teach you how to use them.
There are several others available (I’m sure people will chime in with them)

OnShape is a great choice - there is a free account option, but that does mean that your designs are ‘public’, although considering how many people use this, good luck for someone else trying to find your designs. It works in your browser, you do not need a good internet connection to use it, but that does help of course. Great online courses to teach you how to use it.
If you need it to work offline, then I would recommend what I use which is Alibre Atom. It has very similar concepts to OnShape, but the workflow to use it is the ‘inverse’ of OnShape.
I would NOT recommend FreeCAD. It has its own distinct approach to its workflow, that will kinda ‘poison’ you when it comes to picking up other CAD packages.
And I would NOT recommend AutoCAD. It’s a clunky heap of junk, and the only people who think it’s awesome have become so locked into it that they just can’t figure any other CAD package out.
You can start making designs or shapes to cut using free web 2D CAM option like Easel.
