New motor mount suggestion

The issue i see is that you first what to balance your sled by raising the ring. That gives you the height of the chains over the sheet near the sled. You then want to bring your motors out, so the chains near the motor has the same height over the sheet (chain parallel to the sheet).

Both great ideas. Some have welded their motor mounts, but a main goal of the Maslow was to make it accessible to people who had limited tools available. Welding was beyond the scope.

You are correct that Flex is an issue to be contended with. If you have access to welding equipment and materials, a metal frame will serve you well.

if you make the top beam adjustable, this can work well, there are very strong
unistrut angles, so if you put a short piece of unistrut on the bottom of the
top beam you can move it in and out to accomodate different thicknesses of
material
