I am planning a steel sled, so preparing holes will be necessary. Since I am also planning to have the sled laser cut, I can have the mounting holes for both the router and the ring done at the same time, and thereby ensure that they are concentric. I’ll still need to tap the holes, but that should be fairly straightforward.
Yes! That is the final design. The one caveat is that the thickness of the metal will not be exactly as specified because it never is so I will measure the thickness of the final parts before printing the placement templates
Thanks @bar! I imagine the difference in thickness of the metal will be fairly minimal (<1mm?). I was hoping to have the sled cut and delivered by the time I ordered/received the ring, but given the amount of time I have had to work on my Maslow, perhaps waiting is the better course of action.
Although, in exciting (at least for me) news, I have all three axes working as of this weekend, and even ran some gcode as a test. I am planning to make a pen holder before I start cutting anything, but my patience may run out before that happens, and I already have router bits
Thanks again @bar for all the work you (and everyone) have put into this system!
