Nothing happens when power is plugged in 4.1 New Build

Hello,

I just finished assembling my 4.1 and nothing happens when the power is plugged in. The fan doesn’t start, no LEDs light up, the WIFI network doesn’t start up, and it doesn’t show up on my computer when plugged in via USB.

The board is definitely receiving power as the components heat up. the heat is slow and on par with what i would expect for un cooled components. No smoke, No obvious shorts or hot spots.

Is it possible i just have a bad board?

There is no green LED? The green LED should be tied directly to the power supply so if the board is getting power I would expect that one to come on pretty much no matter what else is happening on the board

Nope no led at all.

Just a little bit of heat on the components near the plug.

Hmmm that could be a board issue or a power supply issue. I’ve just never seen a board fail in that way before

Can you try plugging it into a different outlet?

Same result on another outlet, no LED, No fan but if I leave it plugged in for about a minute it warms up near the plug.

That is very strange. It getting warm would indicate that the power supply is working, but it not having a green LED makes me think that the power supply isn’t working.

You don’t see it creating a “Maslow” wifi network, right?

Correct. No WIFI network. I’ve only left it plugged in for a bout a minute as I wanted to avoid damaging the board by letting it overheat. If it would need to be plugged in longer than that I can try it.

Power supply reads a stable 24.2V on a multimeter under no load.

Excellent test, OK it sounds like the board for sure! Great testing!

I will DM you a code for a replacement right now!

Great Thank you!

The control board was NOT the problem.
