Plastic captive nut traps broke. How to get replacements?

I’m still getting my Maslow 4.1 to work for the first time, and took it apart for the first time to fix an issue with calibration (I’ve already posted about that).

While taking it apart, I discovered many captive nut traps on the uprights were breaking and I couldn’t even easily take it apart. A couple of the uprights even had the plastic splitting down into the upright. I was able to get it reassembled carefully using only 2 screws at each upright end so that I can at least work on getting this so it can calibrate. But it isn’t good.

I assembled my Maslow without power tools, using only the provided torx driver and another much smaller torx driver I had. Is it possible I accidentally overtightened a screw, sure, but one-third of them, to the point that the plastic starts splitting down the upright? That seems more like there was a problem in these parts.

Here is a picture of the damaged parts.

How can I request replacement upright parts? Are these pieces known to have especially delicate plastic? One of the belt ends had the screw go too far as well. Can I request a replacement for that too?

Thanks,
Paul

If you have access to a 3d printer i would recommend printing 4 new posts with 2 spacers, belt ends and the top and bottom turtle clamp. Much more robust and the turtle clamp is a great design. You will need to get longer hardware and if you print the turtle you’ll need a few additional parts. The STLs are on the 3D parts thread.

can you link to the 3d parts thread? I am not seeing it and would like to replace some of these parts like the inner post that keeps breaking.

[/quote] go to June 2025

You will need four of the inner posts and two of the spacers. The posts are slightly shorter than the originals. I’d also recommend the Turtle Clamps (Jan 13th, 2026).
