With my other CNCs I can always recover from a failed cut … I just start over.
All my other CNC can redo cuts because the cut origin remains the same.
On a fixed frame CNC the workpiece origin doesn’t change, I can restart.
How can I restart a cut with Maslow?
Previously if I wasn’t successful on my first attempt then my project was SOL.
Since recovery usually means setting up anew I’m not confident to restart.
Is there a way to reset the Maslow spindle to the workpiece origin?
when you retract/extend/apply tension, the router should reliably have the same
0,0 coordinates (it may not be exactly there, depending on how fast each arm
retracts during the apply tension phase, but if you move to 0,0 it should
reliably be at the same place)
And the other hack for a Maslow is to make sure that your cut’s origin is not actually on the cutting path. Then when you set up for the cut and define home (0,0) for the cut, actually drop your router / spindle down and drill a hole at your origin. So if things really go sideways with the Maslow remembering where it was you can jog it back over to that hole and use that to redefine home.
