For me, this was the result of magnets coming unglued, possibly in combination with binding between the idler gear and the drive gear. Once I got those two issues sorted out, my M4 worked pretty well until my RJ45 encoder connectors became unreliable. When I got the WSJT-XH controller and encoder boards installed, things got good. I’m not sure if you’ve already checked those issues.

I think @MrN808’s suggestions are all really good. Additionally, it looks like your firmware isn’t updated. The latest firmware version is v0.85.1 (though it looks like version 0.86 was just uploaded within the hour, so that’ll be the one to go with). I don’t think that will solve your issues here, but always helps to have the latest.
