Turning the frame on its side

maslow is in the mail so very new to cnc but not to wood working

has anyone built a maslow frame with the 4 foot side on the bottom
my garage has really tall ceilings

any feedback would be welcomed

Portrait vs. landscape will give you more trouble then saving width, is the short answer.

Yes, people have done that, you need a wider top beam than you may think

there is a spreadsheet that lets you play with the machine dimensions and look
at the min/max forces on the sled (I don’t have the link handy at the moment)

play around with the dimensions there and find something that will work in your
shop.
