I’d like to cut full plywood sheets (EU standards are 2500 x 1250 mm) with Maslow 4.
It seems to be easier to use my garage floor than building a wooden frame and it takes way less space when unused.
I’ve printed the triangle anchors listed in The Not Shop page.
What I don’t get is the distance the anchors must be set to cut full plywood sheets (how to use the calculator ?) and how to center the sheets correctly. If I disassemble the anchors and the M4, how to put the sheet horizontally and at the same position as before without error ?
I use a frame much smaller than that calculator says should work and I haven’t had issues. 8 feet by 10 feet is the smallest that I could say could work, but if you have more space I’d go a bit bigger
Thanks for your reply.
So basic rule is twice the height and 1.5 times the width.
Two questions then:
If I set workpiece size to 2500x1250 in the calculator and area to 3500x2550, everything stands into the green and white area. Does it mean the precision is optimum or do I need to get everything into the green area ?
How do you keep the sheet centered in the area ? Do you mark the position on your floor ? In this video, there is blue tape on the ground.
Hey, Yes! I’ve been using tape to remember where to put the plywood. I have a couple different sets of tape depending on where in the sheet of plywood I am cutting. The center is usually more accurate, so I shift the sheet around to accommodate.
Mostly though, the tape helps me keep the X axis of the cut even with the edge of the plywood. The machine will set the x axis parallel to the line through your two bottom anchors and the tape helps me eyeball that line when I’m setting up the plywood. So its more about cutting parallel to the edge of the sheet, rather than having the plywood be centered.
Also to prevent sliding, we’ve been using the no-slip pads you put under rugs. It works pretty well!
