Was There a Gearbox Design Change?

Not sure if this has already been covered.

Has anyone else noticed that there was a design change in the gearbox? It looks like the original design was for a single piece case with a cover. At some point between June and Spetember of 2017 the design was changed to utilize a cover where one of the sides of the case was cast integral to the cover. Also, the boss in the case where one end of the final drive shaft bearings are pressed went from a “closed” design to an “open” one. By open I mean the end of the shaft is visible from the outside of the gearbox.

I was just curious if anyone else noticed this.

Yes, I think you just nailed all of the features that changed. The design of the gears themselves didn’t change but the case was redesigned to make the motors easier to assemble.
